• According to Section 36 of the Soldiers Act (SG), soldiers are guaranteed spiritual care and undisturbed religious practice by their employer. So far, this has only been institutionalized for members of the Jewish, Protestant and Catholic faiths supports. For the approximately 3,000 soldiers of Muslim faith in the Bundeswehr, there are no contact persons provided by the Islamic religious community to help ensure free religious activity to provide pastoral support to the soldiers. A pastoral care service is now being offered for the estimated number of 3,000 soldiers of the Islamic faith within the scope of the Federal Ministry Defense (BMVg) created. a) Pastoral care as needed and possible - Conducting individual and group discussions on questions of faith, life and conscience. - Spiritual guidance in personal matters. - Implementation of religious gatherings and offers such as Friday prayers or memorial events. - Sacred acts on Islamic holidays. - Visiting sick people and accompanying them in Bundeswehr hospitals or other Bundeswehr properties. - Advice on questions on the compatibility of religious duties (e.g. prayer, fasting, nutrition, working hours) with official requirements. b) Emergency and crisis support for the soldier - Pastoral care and crisis intervention for personal and family matters or work-related burdens. - Support in the event of bereavement, injury or death. - Cooperation with the medical service, the psychological service, the social service and the family care organization of the Bundeswehr within the framework of the psychosocial network. c) Interreligious and intercultural work - Promoting dialogue and tolerance between people from different...
