With the exception of the Munich-Pasing Hoellriegelskreuth line, all lines run on the S-Bahn main line. The S-Bahn main line, which dates back to the 1970s, has reached its performance limits. Due to the operating plan planned from the commissioning of the 2nd S-Bahn main linerogram, there is a need for additional infrastructure on various external branches of the existing S-Bahn network in order to be able to cope with the increased traffic.
According to the start concept plus, with the exception of 2 lines, a 15-minute basic frequency with additional superimposed express S-Bahn lines in the 3rd0 minute frequency is used as a basis for the future S-Bahn network.
