DThe major project 2nd S-Bahn main line in Munich (2nd SBSS) consists of the sub-measures "Inner-city area / tunnel" and "network-supplementary measures" in the outer branches of the existing network. The sub-measure "Inner-city area / tunnel" includes the new construction the double-track S-Bahn- Route between the existing S-Bahn stations Laim in the east of Munich and Leuchtenbergring in the west of Munich.
The main structures of the new east-west connection are two approximately 7 kilometer long tunnels, through which an S-Bahn track runs. These traffic tunnel tubes are over regularlyig arranged cross passages are connected to a parallel exploration and rescue tunnel (ERS) and the necessary rescue shafts. The sub-measure includes the construction of three underground passenger transport facilities (uPva) at the Hauptbahnhof, Marienhof and Os stopstbahnhof as well as the conversion or expansion of the above-ground stops at Laim and Leuchtenbergring.
The sub-measure "Network supplementary measures" includes extensive construction work for the integration of the 2nd S-Bahn main line into the existing tracks in the west and east.
