- The major project 2nd S-Bahn main line Munich (2nd SBSS) consists of the sub-measures "Inner-city area / tunnel" and "Network-supplementary measures" in the outer branches of the existing network. The "inner-city area/tunnel" sub-measure includes the construction of a new double-track S-Bahn line between the existing S-Bahn stations Laim in the east of Munich and Leuchtenbergring in the west of Munich. The main structures of the new east-west connection are two approximately 7-kilometer-long tunnels, each of which has an S-Bahn track running through it. These traffic tunnel tubes are arranged over regularly Cross passages are connected to a parallel exploration and rescue tunnel (ERS) and the necessary rescue shafts. The sub-measure includes the construction of three underground passenger transport facilities (uPva) at the Hauptbahnhof, Marienhof and Ostbahnhof stops as well as the Reconstruction and expansion of the above-ground Laim and Leuchtenbergring stops. The sub-measure "Network supplementary measures" includes extensive construction work for the integration of the 2nd S-Bahn main line into the existing tracks in the west and east.
