- It is planned to replace the existing seal enclosure with a new facility on the Duisburg Zoo site. Along with the new building, the water basins and their adjacent enclosure areas will be made more attractive for people and animals. The new seal facility consists of a new designed outdoor area with two water pools for the sea lions, which are connected to each other by a forecourt. Furthermore, land zones made up of sandy areas and rock formations are planned. The technology for the new seal facility should, together with the animal enclosures and the work areas Caregivers will be accommodated in a new building directly adjacent. The new building is recognizable as a single-story technical building, which is largely located underground due to the water treatment that needs to be accommodated.
