The measure affects the renovation of the existing building 101 Kopfermann building on the site of the Physically Technical Federal Institute (PTB) in Braunschweig. The construction task includes the renovation of the building stock as well as the extensive renewal of electrical and ventilation/ air conditioning technology and the sanitary installations. The focus is on the implementation of a fire protection concept, comprehensive pollutant renovation as well as floor plan adjustments and breakthrough designs for line/channel guides. The building dates from the 1960s and houses the Department of Time and Frequency with the so -called atomic clock. This building function consists of a scientific and social interest that extends beyond the national borders with constant international and extremely sensitive view of this place. The building is a single-storey solid building (part-kg, EC, DG-Walmdach) and, on the basis of the above-mentioned operating use of the so-called atomic clock, with very high technical equipment density and extremely sensitive measuring and laboratory techniques.
