In addition to the direct health consequences of radiation exposure, nuclear emergencies always have an impact on well -being and mental health affected. In 2020, the WHO released the "Framework for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Radiological and Nuclear Emergencies". There is a concrete framework for the first time that addresses the relevant aspects in the different phases of emergency protection planning and emergency management in order to avoid or reduce psychosocial effects. For Germany, there are already good approaches to psychosocial emergency care, which is aimed at directly affected by an emergency situation.
