As part of the federal program? Adjustment of urban and rural areas to climate change? Is the funding project in Trier? Climate room Trier? Historical avenue ring? implemented. The aim is to make the Allen Ring, which serves as a green environmental city center, climate and its important function as a? Green lungs? to strengthen the city. Around 40 % of the old tree population on the Allen Ring are damaged, the cause of this is climate consequences, such as heat and dryness, but also decades of sealing and traffic -related interventions. The facility runs along the former city walls and combines significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Due to the dense development in the city center and the limited possibilities for new green areas, the Allen ring plays a special role in alleviating the heat island. The project aims at a comprehensive design and ecological upgrading of the avenue ring. Climate silence is to be increased, biodiversity is promoted and the quality of stay in public space is to be improved.
