Description : This call for tenders is part of the cooperation between the West African Power Pool Secretariat (WAPP) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). It is part of the Regional Programme 'Promotion of a Climate Friendly Electricity Market in the ECOWAS Region - Phase 2 (ProCEM2)' in support of the WAPP.
This comprehensive programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supports WAPP, the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ARREC) on several types of issues. The ProCEM2 programme has a duration of 3 years (01/2022 to 12/2024).
Following the example of the previous ProMERC 1 programme, which focused mainly on reducing distribution losses at the level of electricity distribution companies in the ECOWAS region for the period 2018-2020, the present programme intends to broaden its scope of intervention by extending its support to the operational performance of electricity companies to enable them to be sufficiently viable to participate in the regional electricity market
