Description:
The project "Youth employment in the agricultural and nutritional economy in the west of Kenya" (order value: up to EUR 5,000,000; duration: 01/2024 to 12/2025 (2 years)) aims to improve the income and employment opportunities along agricultural value chains , especially for young people and women. It works with the Kenya country package of the Global Pres known "Employment in rural areas with a focus on young people" of the special initiative transformation of agricultural and nutrition systems (Si ager, formerly Si Einwelt without hunger), which ended in December 2024. The target groups of the project are young farmers, as well as the owners of agricultural -based KKMU and their employees in the districts of Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu, Siaya and Vihiga. The project in particular promotes such agricultural-based KKMU as well as start-ups that drive the transformation of the Kenyan agricultural and nutrition sector. The project contributes to the program target indicators 1 (promotion of employment) and 2 (increase in income and sales).
