• Description:
• Cologne-Bonn Airport (FKB) is planning to renovate around 70,000 m2 of flight operations areas in various sections of taxiway A north and south of the Querwindbahn (RWY 06/24), as well as the adjacent taxiways E and A3. The older flight operations areas made of concrete have damaged areas that can be traced back to the alkali-silicic acid reaction (AKR). Based on the damage patterns, FKB determined renovation sections to renew the runway superstructure of the existing flight operations areas. As part of the current construction project “AKR Renovation Part 1”, the services are summarized in the first renovation phase. The structural implementation of the “AKR Renovation Part 1” construction project is scheduled to take place in several phases between April 2027 and July 2029. The construction project includes six areas which are summarized in the list of services for “civil engineering and electrical work” into three sections, as described in the following table “construction areas”.
