• Description:
• The load on the Ober-Erlenbach sewage treatment plant has increased significantly since the basin was expanded in the 1990s. The aeration plant is currently working at its capacity limit. In order to provide sufficient cleaning performance, the aeration tanks must operated with a high solids content (TSBB). The aeration volume must therefore be increased by building new aeration tanks. In addition to expanding the pool, adapting the cleaning process is also necessary. In a 2023 The completed study included, among other things: Four conversion variants with different process concepts were examined using dynamic simulation. The variant investigation must be continued in further planning, taking into account any newer findings. When planning, the aim of achieving the highest possible energy efficiency (on the consumption side) of the entire activated sludge system must also be taken into account. The energy-optimized system technology is intended to meet the requirements of the EU Municipal Wastewater Directive (KARL). Support the achievement of energy neutrality in wastewater treatment by 2045. In addition, economically viable options for generating renewable energy should be used (e.g. PV systems, battery storage for PV/CHP electricity, heat recovery etc.).
