Basic investigation for the bicycle traffic expansion of the Saale-Leipzig-Canal operating route, 1st TBA
The Saale-Leipzig Canal (SLK) is a channel project that started in 1933 and set in 1943, which combines the white magpie with the Saale near Leuna and thus the water network of the Messestadt Leipzig should connect to the Bun-Desdeutsche Wasserstrasse network and the North Sea. About 11 km has been flooded of the planned 18 km total length of the canal after the canal work was set. This open part passed away from the Lindenau port in the city of Leipzig via Burghausen, Rueckmarsdorf and Doelzig (OT von Schkeu-Ditz) to the west of Zschoechergen (OT of Leuna) in Saxony-Anhalt. In its dedication as a federal waterway, the SLK is supervised by the Wasserstrassen- und Shipping Management of the FRG (WSV).
As part of the cross -border cooperation, the cities of Halle (Saale) work, Leipzig, Leuna, Schkeu-Ditz and Merseburg, the municipality of Schkopau as well as the districts of Saalekreis and Nordsachsen together in the implementation of the Saale-Leipzig-Canal cycle path, which is to run from Lindenau harbor to Saale near Kreypau in its entire length of 19.7 km.
The SLK is Binding for regional development in the Leipzig-Schkeuditz-Leuna-Merseburg-Hal-Le. Against this background, the water and country-sided development of the channel must be seen as a common experience space in a regional, locally networked context. In since February 2019 ...
