- The vocational schools at the Steuerwalder Strasse location are located on a shared property in a building complex with classrooms, workshops, administrative areas and a sports hall. The buildings are technically outdated and have significant defects on facades, roofs and building technical systems. In addition, they do not meet the current requirements for preventive fire protection and contain harmful substances, especially in the suspended ceiling constructions. A comprehensive renovation is therefore necessary in the short term. An alternative location for a complete New construction is not available to the Hildesheim district. Since the structural substance is generally considered to be sustainable, renovation is planned in three construction phases while the school continues to operate. According to current planning status, the measure is scheduled to begin in 2029 and 2036 be completed. According to current cost assumptions, the estimated construction costs for the renovation of the existing building and an extension amount to around 100 million euros net (cost groups 200 to 600). The services of object planning for buildings and interiors as well as specialist planning for structural planning and technical equipment have been allocated. Further specialist planning is currently being advertised. During the planning process it became clear that isolated immediate measures were not effective and that a comprehensive, basic renovation was necessary.
