Description:
The project "Electrification and expansion Aschaffenburg - Miltenberg" is to be carried out as part of the Bavarian electromobility strategy Schiene (BESS). The route is to be electrified, expanded in sections in two ways to expand a Sulzbach on the Main crossing station and theSpeed can be partially increased. This is intended to increase the capacity and flexibility of the route in such a way that the introduction of a half -hourly cycle free of conflict is made possible.
With the electrification and the expansion of the Aschaffenburg - Miltenberg railway line, variousMeasures for decarbonization, increase in capacity and acceleration implemented and rail passenger traffic (SPNV) thus become more attractive. The 39-kilometer-comprehensive transport connection is based on the VZG route 5220: Aschaffenburg Hbf- Bft Miltenberg West and from the first twoKilometers of the VZG route 5224: Bft Miltenberg West-Wertheim together. With the electrification and expansion of the Maintalbahn, transfer-free SPNV compounds from Miltenberg to Frankfurt (Main) and Darmstadt should be made possible with electrical traction.
