Description:
The program began in 2024 and has been supported intensively with communication ever since. This includes both the period of the geological investigations as well as their preparation (e.g. informing the neighboring districts and municipalities) and follow-up (e.g. publication of the results). The exploration and drilling program aims to obtain information about the distribution, thickness, depth and structure of rock horizons potentially suitable for geothermal use. For this purpose, 2D seismic investigations are being carried out in different regions of North Rhine-Westphalia (vibration seismic) and exploratory drilling several hundred meters deep were carried out. Here, the topic of "geothermal energy" is placed or deepened in public perception. The population receives basic information about the potential of medium and deep geothermal energy and its potential Possible uses, especially with regard to the hydrothermal potential in North Rhine-Westphalia. What is important here is risk clarification and mitigation as well as explaining the relevance and usefulness of the different exploration measures.
