The pedestrian zone represents the heart of the downtown of Wunstorf and is a focus of pension in the area of the historic old town in the core city. With its historical settlement structure, the old building stock and its busy pedestrian zone, the city center of Wunstorf offers a big onePotential for an attractive city center. Nevertheless, there are evaluating tendencies such as commercial vacancy and rented uses in various areas that do not meet demand and the supply at the location as well as a need for action in the design of the publicRooms (including accessibility, quality of stay). The city center of Wunstorf currently has urban planning grievances and functional defects. For this reason, the city of Wunstorf has on the basis of an inner city concept that the preparatory studies in accordance with Section 141 BauGB and theIntegrated urban development concept (ISEK) contained an application for inclusion in the urban development program "Living Centers- Preserving and Development of the City and Local Seats". The city of Wunstorf was included in the program in 2023.
