- The focus of the scientific publication activity of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) is in all areas of modern archeology and antiquity. Publications of the German Archaeological Institute are characterized by scientific quality, which is secured using peer review processes and a scientific specialist lecturer, and by high manufacturing quality. The wide -ranging thematic spectrum of antiquity research poses different challenges for the forms and ways of publication.
Large architectural plans and maps have to be presented as well as outstanding photographs of ancient sculpture and drawings of small finds. Excavation publications and basic material templates are primary source editions that often do not lose their validity even after a hundred years. This derives the high demands on the careful preparation of the print templates as well as the quality of book technology production, printing or electronic publication, which the DAI sees.
