Description:
The DLR Institute for Maritime Energy Systems was founded to research and develop innovative solutions for decarbonization and emission reduction in shipping. The institute transfers knowledge from other DLR institutes on various building blocks of energy systemsn areas of application in the maritime sector, complements and expands them and puts them into practice in cooperation with scientific partners and industry. The institute is building up a large-scale infrastructure in order to be able to use the newly developed energy systems in a standardized laboratory environment ande to test and try out under real conditions on a research ship. For the development, demonstration and preparation of certifications for maritime energy systems, it is therefore necessary to have a ship available as a test platform for new energy sources and systems. AA concept design for such a ship has already been developed by the DLR Institute for Maritime Energy Systems and has received Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyds Register. This concept design forms the basis for this tender.
