The Schlachthofquartier is an urban building complex northwest of the city center of Offenburg, at Wasserstrasse 22. The central building was built in 1905/06 in the style of Built in historicism and operated as a slaughterhouse until 2019. Following the decision to change the use of the cultural monument, the newly defined redevelopment area was provided with funding from two federal-state programs amounting to approximately €5 million.
In 2020/21 an urban planning ideas competition was held Slaughterhouse Quarter, which K9 Architects Freiburg won with w+p Landschaftsarchitekten. In 2022, Sutter3 architects from Freiburg created a usage concept for the further development of the slaughterhouse quarter into the CANVAS+ creative center. The first buildings on the site have already been or are being built rebuilt or built.
The buildings advertised here are described in the usage concept as follows:
- 1.1 slaughterhouse building (3000 m2 GFA, 1950 m2 NUF)
- 1.2 pigsty (120 m2 GFA, 80 m2 NUF)
- 1.3 pump house (130 m2 GFA, 80 m2 NUF)
- 2 youth cultural facilities (550 m2 GFA, 360 m2 For us).
