• Description:
• Human biomonitoring is a central information and control instrument for health-related environmental protection. Human biomonitoring provides scientifically sound data on whether mitigation measures taken actually lead to a decline exposure to questionable substances in the population and whether (further) bans or restrictions on questionable substances are necessary. Whether and to what extent the detection of a substance in the body that has a health impact must be assessed by means of a toxicological assessment. For this purpose, toxicological assessment values ​​(in Germany HBM-I and HBM-II values) are derived. The HBM-I value characterizes the concentration of a substance or its substance Metabolite/s in a body medium (e.g. urine, blood), up to which, according to the current status of the assessment and when considering individual substances, adverse effects are not expected to occur during lifelong exposure. In contrast, there is a concentration in the amount of the HBM-II value and beyond that the possibility of a health-relevant impairment. As part of this report, the preparatory work for the derivation of HBM values ​​for the two substances diisodecyl phthalate (DiDP; CAS No.: 26761-40-0; 68515-49-1) and Triclosan (TCS; CAS No.: 3380-34-5). For TCS, an HBM-I value was derived in 2015 by the Human Biomonitoring Commission at the Federal Environment Agency (HBM-K) (3), the validity of which is based on the current data situation on toxicology must be checked and updated if necessary.
