  • Quantum systems based on superconducting circuits currently offer one of the most promising platforms for the development of quantum computers and for the study of fundamental quantum physical phenomena.
    Both in university and industrial research institutions, dahhe researched worldwide and at high pressure on the further development of superconducting quantum processors. The fabrication and experimental investigation of such processors represents a major challenge and requires infrastructural site conditions that are only available at a few research institutionsare given in Germany. With the appointment of the applicant as chair holder at the FAU in Erlangen, one of the leading centers in Germany for the development of superconducting quantum computers is to be created.
    Research on superconducting circuits requires experimentalStructures that each consist of a cryostat, electronic control and measuring devices, as well as a number of microwave components and mechanical parts. This means that the superconducting quantum processors can be cooled to the required temperature in the millikelvin rangeon the other hand, the control and measurement signals are generated, filtered, amplified and digitally processed.
