Description: As part of the Directive on the promotion of research and development projects for the digitization of objects of cultural heritage (efertitage), since October 2020, the 3D Cipher project is funded by the German Museum of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Within the framework of this project, 61 historical ciphering machines (60 owned by the German museum, as well as a device in private hand. In the future, as well as in future exponates mentioned) by computer tomography are fully three-dimensionally recorded and provided to the public as Open Data. For this purpose, the CT images produced, three-dimensional volume data with annotations of the most important components in a suitable online viewer are displayed.
