Description:
The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy plans to make the data connections within the ATB network and the connection to the outside more secure and reliable by using redundant firewalls. It should already be ensured at the network level that only calculatedauthorized people and devices can access resources with the applications provided for this purpose. The systems should also be able to detect and suppress network-based attacks. In the following we call the pair of firewalls for the connection to the outside DMZ firewalls, the pair forThe in-network security is referred to as segmentation firewalls. Only physical firewalls can be used. So far, a DMZ firewall Palo Alto PA 850 has been used in the ATB. Their complex configured functions are to be fully integrated into the new DMZ system. The Firewalls should be managed jointly and also access the logs of the Palo Alto Cortex XDR agents of our endpoint protection system.
The firewall system is planned to be operational in Q4 2023 for 5 years.
