Description:
The measuring device is mainly required to characterize passive structures (printed circuit boards, sensors, materials) and is intended to enable measurements in reflection and transmission (2 test ports, four S-parameters S11, S12, S21, S22).
The NWA is primarily intended for measurements of the frequency-dependent , complexdielectric properties (real and imaginary part of the permittivity) are used. This requires a wide frequency range (1 kHz to 40 GHz or higher) and the possibility of modular expansion to higher frequency ranges (greater than 40 GHz). Furthermore, the basic device shouldhave a high dynamic range in order to be able to characterize even strongly damping materials/setups. The measurement system should be used primarily in the laboratory with a focus on: high performance (dynamic range, frequency stability, measurement time), high stability, low susceptibility to interference andan efficient implementation of the measurement tasks through a good interaction of hardware and software (operability, automatic calibration, determination of the dielectric material properties).
Usual interfaces for remote control and automation via scripts (e.g. SCPI) as well as for data exchangesch (USB, TCP/IP) should be available. An automatic calibration option for the two ports over the entire frequency range of the base unit is desirable.
