Description:
The aqueduct of Altenbrak is a single-edged listed steel and trigue bridge with an integrated wooden trough on quarry stone contractions. With River-KM 122+249.8 it spans the bode with an opening of approx. 42 m. In the inventory measurement of the Bode, it is managed as a building (BW) 85.
Built in 1887/88 and decommissioned in the 80s of the 20th century, the aqueduct is severely damaged after over 130 years of service life despite various security and conversion measures and is no longer stable.
After the building examination in 2019, instant measures were initiated due to the very high degree of damage to secure the aqueduct and the traffic underneath. The immediate measures were implemented in September and October 2019 as an emergency protection for the path by means of a reinforced steel construction yoke and detachment.
Since an repair is no longer feasible from a technical and economic point of view, a large part of the aqueduct under monument protection is dismantled.
