All systems are to be shut down by 2038. With the coal phase-out The district aims to develop towards a sustainable and largely CO2-neutral energy supply, without neglecting the economic and social aspects of the transformation process. Around 90 percent of households in the city Hohenmölsen is connected to the existing district heating network. However, as a result of the decision to phase out coal, the previous source of heat supply will no longer be available, meaning that the population's secure heat supply is at risk. The “Greens” project District heating Hohenmölsen" is being redesigned against the background of the coal phase-out and the associated uncertainties in the current heat supply.
