Description:
The aim of the “Economic incentive instruments for nature-friendly business” project is to develop well-founded recommendations for their future application and design based on a systematic recording and evaluation of existing instruments. which are primarily aimed at political decision-makers and responsible administrative bodies. In this way, companies and other economic actors should also be reached indirectly through appropriate framework conditions and incentives more nature-friendly business practices are promoted. The focus is on the question of how companies - especially SMEs - can be motivated through economic incentives to make voluntary contributions to the protection and promotion of biological diversity. The project thus makes a direct contribution to the implementation of measure 16.2.4 of the NBS 2030 as well as to the political operationalization of the CBD and EU biodiversity goals. As part of the project, relevant incentive instruments are initially developed conceptually classified and classified, then identified at national and international levels and analyzed in terms of their practical design. An in-depth assessment of selected instruments is carried out along an environmental-economic criteria grid, that, among other things, effectiveness, efficiency and sectoral applicability are taken into account. In addition, case studies are carried out for implementation in company practice. The results serve as a basis for concrete, practical recommendations for action Further development and combination of incentive mechanisms, particularly with a view to low-threshold and targeted support for biodiversity-friendly business in SMEs.
