- DREWAG Stadtwerke Dresden GmbH (hereinafter DREWAG), a subsidiary of Sachsen Energie AG, operates the central district heating network (ZFHN) of the city of Dresden. As part of the desired decarbonization, the share of renewable heat generation should be increased be significantly increased. An important component is power-to-heat systems (P2H systems), which use electricity generated from renewable sources to generate heat. Electrode heating boilers enable the production of hot water for district heating. Before Against this background, DREWAG is planning to build an electrode heating boiler system (EHK system) to generate heat for the ZFHN at the Dresden-Reick thermal power station (HKW Re). The location is particularly favorable for the construction and integration of the system Requirements: •Existing electrical power supply at medium voltage level •Existing connection to the district heating network •Use of existing heat storage as a hydraulic buffer •Available buildable areas and basically given ones Approval capability •Synergies in operation and maintenance through spatial proximity to existing systems and existing operating personnel The project includes the construction of an EHK system with 2 × 40 MW of electrical power and its integration into the ZFHN. The coupling takes place indirectly via heat exchangers.
