- Saarland participates in the EU school program, fruit and vegetable component, on the basis of Regulation (EU) 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of December 17, 2013 and Regulation (EU) No. 1306/2013 regarding the aid scheme for the supply of fruit and vegetables, bananas and milk in educational institutions, the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/39 of November 3, 2016 with implementing provisions for Regulation (EU) No. 1308/2013, the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/40 of Commission of November 3, 2016 to supplement Regulation (EU) No. 1308/2013 and the law implementing Union law regulations on the school program for fruit, vegetables and milk (Agricultural Products-se School Program Act - LwErzgSchulproG) in the current versions. The strategy for the implementation of a school program in Germany, Saarland region, school years 2023/2024 to 2028/2029 from March 30, 2023 also serves as the basis for the implementation of the EU school program, fruit component and vegetables. The aim of the EU school program is to increase the consumption of fruit and vegetables among children, especially children of primary school age, through a varied and regular range of fruit and vegetables in addition to the existing lunch menu and thus influence their eating habits in the long term with a view to a health-promoting and balanced diet. At the same time, the program serves to promote sales of fruit and vegetables.
