• As a result of the flood disaster in 2021, the former City Forum in the city of Euskirchen was flooded. The damage was so significant that reconstruction was not economically feasible. All developments in City South (new building of the town hall, New construction of a parking garage, development of the City Forum and other measures) represent a flagship project for the urban development of the city of Euskirchen as an expansion of the city center south of the train station underpass. The public square design comes into play In combination with the design and practical integration of the City Forum as an event hall, it has an outstanding position. In the future, the square will not only provide access to the adjacent buildings and usable areas, but also provide a quality of stay as well as for events, possibly with an outdoor stage at the City Forum. The city of Euskirchen therefore has one for the new construction of the City Forum as an event venue with 1,200 seats and the design of the public space interdisciplinary planning competition for architects and landscape architects.
