Description:
The existing building was built in 1911 using solid construction with a hipped roof. The last general renovation was carried out in 1986, as well as smaller renovation measures in the
last years. The terrain slopes from east to west. As a construction site for the expansion of the Erich Kastner School the playground located in the south of the existing building is available. The new "glass joint" or intermediate building connects the existing school with the planned extension and offers a new, second structural escape route including an elevator for barrier-free access. The new four-story school building was planned in solid construction with a perforated facade. Structurally, there are up to 3 classrooms on each floor and depending on the space program requirements, which are divided by a group room. In the north-east of the extension, directly next to the new staircase, there is access across all floors an ancillary room zone, which includes sanitary, storage and technical rooms.
