• To increase road safety for cyclists, protected bike lanes on roads are becoming increasingly popular. These are characterized by elements that structurally separate or separate the bicycle traffic that is required to use the road from vehicle traffic. The aim of this research project is to determine requirements for traffic-safe separating elements and to build on this material-technical analysis to develop initial suggestions for test criteria. The focus should be on different types of separating elements as well as their material types, geometries and anchorings. In particular, it should be examined to what extent these meet the needs of different people correspond to road users.
