Refoplan: "Scaling processes to promote the redistribution of urban traffic areas"
The redistribution of existing traffic areas in cities and municipalities in favor of the environmental association in local transport, the quality of stay, more city green, climate adaptation and living space purchases, has great potential. In the past, there were sometimes high legal and administrative hurdles that have already been examined. With the amendment of road and road traffic law in 2024, there is a new legal situation. Against this background, the research project is intended to investigate which new approaches to redistribution of street space arise with the changed legal situation and are already used. Corresponding practical examples should be collected. These approaches are to be discussed in 13 workshops with municipalities and road traffic authorities. In the future, the exchange in the workshops and the ten practical guidelines for redesign measures to be developed will support municipalities in the future to efficiently scale the good practical examples. In addition, concrete practical cases should be played through with the help of a business game and still existing obstacles in the street ...
