• Description:
• ReFoPlan: “Innovative/sustainable technologies: TV 1: Development of the state of the art for the extraction of ores on an industrial scale/mining” Directive 2010/75/EU in the version of Directive (EU) 2024/1785 regulates the approval, operation and decommissioning of Industrial facilities. It achieves a high level of environmental protection by applying best available technology (BAT). The BAT is determined through an exchange of information between member states - UBA represents Germany -, industry, NGOs and EU Commission. This exchange has already started for the new BREF information sheet for the “on-site extraction and processing of ores on an industrial scale” (MIN-BREF). This project serves to support the UBA in the development of the MIN BREF. The contractors should - firstly - identify plants in Germany (very few exist), the EU (e.g. FIN, SWE) and in 3 countries worldwide (e.g. AUS) and identify relevant emissions and resource consumption of the activities in the area of ​​application of the MIN-BREF (ore extraction above and underground; processing steps such as crushing, grinding, classifying, roasting) as well as the used and possible operating techniques as well as techniques for emissions reduction and resource efficiency represent. Secondly, the contractors should provide (office) organizational and content-related support in the creation of the MIN-BREF. Thirdly, the contractor prepares position papers and - fourthly - takes part in meetings at national and EU level part.
