Description:
REFOPLAN 2026: “Useful lives of electronic devices” The aim of the advertised research project is to create a broad, current and representative database on the service life of electrical and electronic devices. The results should be one provide a solid basis for political, normative and communication measures for circular economy, waste avoidance and extending the lifespan of products. Current data on usage and length of stay are also required as a basis, in order to be able to predict the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) (WEEE generated) in the next few years. This enables more targeted urban mining and serves as a basis and argument for a possible new, appropriate collection quota method according to the WEEE directive. The data is also used for strategic planning of consumer communication.
