- EVUPLAN: "Updating the substitution effects of renewable energies in the German and European electricity sector and their effects on emission accounting for renewable energy sources" The UBA annually determines the greenhouse gas and air emissions avoided by the expansion of renewable energies in Germany. For this purpose, an annually updated analysis of the fossil power plants displaced by renewable energies is required. Due to the increasing networking of the European electricity market, the strong interaction between EE feed-in in Germany and the electricity wise trade with neighboring countries must be taken into account. The aim of the research project is to provide the substitution effects of renewable energies in a technology -specific manner (wind -onshore, -offshore, PV, hydropower, biomass and geothermal energy) for Germany and its neighboring countries for selected years. The research project is intended to build on the findings of the work already carried out at the Federal Environment Agency on this topic.
