Technology markets are a way to recycling property rights for intellectual property. Technology markets in the narrower sense are markets on which rights to use existing technologies on the purchase or sale or licensing of intellectual property rights, e.g. Patents or utility models are transferred. Technology markets offer many advantages. For example, they enable a transfer of the rights of use of technologies to those companies that can better commercialize the invention thanks to superior manufacturing and marketing capacities (comparative advantages), or can increase incentives to invest ex ante in research and development (R & D). However, technology markets may be characterized by various market incomes. In addition to high search costs, in particular, lack of or asymmetric information about the value of technological knowledge, the lack of complementary systems and capabilities, e.g. further knowledge of the inventor or the inventor to realize the value of the technology, as well as the risk of information leaks.
