- The University Medical Center Mainz (UM Mainz) is one of the leading institutions in Germany and combines cutting-edge medicine, research and teaching in close cooperation with the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. As a supramaximal provider, it takes on one central role in inpatient and outpatient care as well as in medical research and training. The UM Mainz includes 60 clinics, institutes & departments, 320,000 patients per year (inpatient & outpatient) and 8,700 employees. The Advancing digitalization from electronic patient records to networked clinical IT to medical OT systems opens up great opportunities for modern, efficient and networked healthcare. At the same time they are rising regulatory requirements for information security through, for example, NIS2 and the KRITIS umbrella law, especially for supply-critical infrastructures such as the UM Mainz. As an operator of critical infrastructure, the UM Mainz is obliged to: to ensure a high level of protection in information security. In addition to the technical introduction of an attack detection system and central logging, additional organizational, advisory and operational support services are required necessary.
