- The Fraunhofer IIS is currently the most successful institute in the Fraunhofer Society. It includes seven specialist areas in the areas of audio and multimedia technologies, adaptive systems, X-ray technology, communication systems, localization and networking, smart sensing and supply chain Services.
As part of the FireAI project, a latest generation GPU computing cluster with over 300 GPUs is being procured, primarily for training generative AI (GenAI). A cluster of this size is necessary for distributed training (data, model and pipeline parallelization) to be efficient to enable training times to be shortened and parallel experiments by several teams to be carried out safely.
The purpose of this tender is to procure a direct, hot water-cooled system complex consisting of the necessary racks, management servers, network components and infrastructure to enable this of operations (hot water cooling infrastructure, power distribution, etc.), as well as AI computing nodes with at least 4 high-end GPUs per node. The computing nodes are to be networked via InfiniBand. The subject of this framework agreement is the procurement of direct water-cooled HPC cluster components as well as their maintenance and care. Details can be found in appendix 04a and 04b of the service description.
