• In the event of an FMD outbreak, rapid access to test kits for diagnostic sample testing must be ensured through transparent and effective procedural regulations. For this purpose, the federal states have had framework agreements since October 1, 2006 Provision of an FMD diagnostic bank completed. The FMD diagnostic bank ensures that, if necessary, sufficient reagents and serological test kits for the detection of foot and mouth disease (FMD) are made available and sent to the requesting countries can be delivered. The contractor provides the following services: 1. constant stocking of reagents for the production of test kits for the examination of 2,000,000 samples, 2. biannual production and deliveries of test kits for the Examination of 10,080 samples each (ring tests), 3. constantly ensuring the necessary production capacity for the production and delivery of test kits for the examination of 2,000,000 samples according to the delivery schedule, 4. on-demand delivery of test kits in the requested quantity for up to 2,000,000 samples in accordance with the delivery schedule and 5. replenishment of used reagents after retrieval of test kits in the event of an epidemic. The estimated maximum purchase quantity of test kits in the event of an outbreak amounts to 2,000,000 samples. This is the maximum amount likely to be required in the event of an outbreak.
