The state of Baden-Wuerttemberg at the end of March 2025 as part of the exceptional regulation § 187 paragraph 10 of the KHVVG approved the formation of the two university clinics in Heidelberg and Mannheim through the permission of the Ministry of Social Affairs. The Heidelberg University Hospital is to become majority shareholders of the University Hospital Mannheim GmbH and take over the strategic management of the association. This model (mother-daughter model) stipulates that both hospitals work very closely together on a medical, economic and scientific level without losing their independent profile. The university network is said to have nationwide "lighthouse character" and excellence ensure for research, teaching and health care. The very narrow association of corporate law opens up sufficient synergies to enable an economic operation at both locations in the long term. After completing the Due Diligence (DD) there is now a business and investment planning for the planned network.
