Description:
The BSR operates a waste-to-energy plant (MHKW) at the Berlin-Ruhleben site with an approved thermal output of 208.4 MW (overload 232.6 MW) and an annual waste throughput of over 500,000 t. With the amendment of the 17th BImSchV from February 16, 2024, the operator of waste incineration plants with a fire heat output of 50 megawatts or more, to install radioactivity detection as part of the incoming waste inspection. The installation of the stationary measuring system for radioactivity has been completed at the MHKW. Becomes the specified radioactivity detection trigger threshold reached, then according to the LAI (Federal/State Working Group on Immission Control) the radionuclide in the delivered waste must be determined.
