- Description:
- On the site of the former Luzenberg gasworks in Mannheim, there are deep contaminated areas with gasworks residues on an area of around 5 hectares, which result in massive groundwater contamination. The existing renovation is divided into one underground microbiological in-situ remediation of the main contaminated areas and above-ground groundwater purification. The existing groundwater treatment plant has been in operation since January 2010 and is currently operating at a throughput of approximately 46.5 m³/h operated. The water is taken from a total of 15 wells, oxygenated, cleaned, mixed with CO2 and seeped away again via a total of 37 infiltration wells.
