Renewal control of the Goettingen high-pressure wind tunnel (HDG) with pressure lock
The Goettingen high-pressure wind tunnel (HDG) is a low-speed wind tunnel (vmax = 35 m/s) that can be operated between atmospheric pressure and 100 bar overpressure. It is used in particular for experimental investigationsof flows at very high Reynolds numbers. A pressure lock allows access to and exchange of models in a printed wind tunnel. The control of the HDG largely dates back to the time it was first put into operation (1981). It therefore no longer corresponds to the current statusTechnology and should be replaced by modern, digital control and visualization. The old analog display instruments are being replaced by sensors that also output a digital signal of their measured value. The signals are processed in a digital control with a PC-basedrten process visualization system.
The safety technology of the pressure lock also no longer meets today's requirements and must be brought up to date.
The lock control, previously operated manually via handwheels and pressure switches, will now be operated via digital sensorsand switches with a digital control enable more comfortable and safer operation.
Main drive motor and the motor control are being renewed in parallel in another project, the interface to the motor control must be coordinated and implemented.
