- The Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin intends to build a pioneering new building for the German Heart Center of the Charité (DHZC) in the southwestern area of the Virchow-Klinikum (CVK) campus. The planned new building will, among other things, those too Central sterile supply (CSSD) and the central emergency room (ZNA) were housed and a helipad was built on the roof of the building. The total usable area for the new DHZC building is approx. 29,800 m² with a gross floor area of approx. 75,600 m² and a gross volume of approx. 355,000 m³. It is planned to construct the new building as a high-rise building with 16 upper floors and 2 basement floors. The building will receive sustainability certification according to the system of the German Society for Sustainable construction (DGNB) aimed for at the “Gold” level. The high-pressure mist extinguishing system (HDWN system) is a fire extinguishing system that atomizes water under high pressure into a fine mist using specialized nozzles. The resulting tiny droplets (typically in the range of 50 to 200 µm) provide effective thermal insulation and rapid evaporation, absorbing heat from the fire zone. At the same time, the evaporation creates additional steam, which increases the oxygen content of the Fire zone reduced.
