An industry dialogue and market research have shown that there is currently no high-performance gigabit infrastructure available for the sub-area of the local authority corresponding telecommunications services are available across the board in accordance with the goals of the Gigabit Framework 2.0 and will be available in the next few years. The local authority therefore has funding for a nationwide gigabit expansion - based on the underserved sub-area in the economic gap model as part of the guideline "Funding to support the gigabit expansion of telecommunications networks in the Federal Republic of Germany - Federal Gigabit Guideline 2.0 (Gigabit-RL 2.0)" of March 31, 2023 in the version of the 1st amendment of April 30, 2024 ("Gigabit Guideline 2.0") has been applied for and received approved. The funding provided in this funding program in the economic gap model (hereinafter: funds) is intended to be provided by local authorities to telecommunications companies in the sense of EU aid law as investment cost aid for construction and operation of gigabit networks.
