The city of Ruesselsheim am Main is a special status city in accordance with Section 5 Paragraph 1 of the Act on Local Public Transport in Hesse (OePNVG) in conjunction with Section 8 Paragraph 3 Passenger Transportgsgesetz (PBefG) and in conjunction with Section 4a Para. 2 Hessian Municipal Code (HGO) responsible for the planning, organization and financing of local public transport (OePNV) as well as the responsible authority in accordance with Section 5 Para. 4 OePNVG within the meaning of Article 2 lit. c) Regulation (EC) No. 1370/2007 on their territoryet (task-carrying organization - ATO).
In order to ensure that the population is adequately served with transport services, the city of Ruesselsheim am Main awarded a public service contract to Stadtwerke Ruesselsheim GmbH (SWR), a 100 percent subsidiary, in 2015(oeDA) for the provision of urban transport in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1370/2007 for the period from January 1st, 2016 to December 31st, 2025.
