Description:
The EU regulation adopted in June 2024 to restore nature (W-VO) is said to contribute significantly to restore functional, resilient ecosystems. Article 5 paragraph 5 of the W-VO formulates that the Member States take measures to restore in Appendix III of Regulation and the Annexes II, IV and V of Directive 92/43/EEC. Of the species named in Appendix III, the North Sea snack (Coregonus Oxyrhynchus), the Engelhai (squatina squatina), are relevant for the German coasts and seas. In Annexes II, IV and V of Directive 92/43/EEC, the mayor (Alosa Alosa) is also important. On the basis of a BFN power study, further preparatory scientific studies on the existing funding of the North Sea snack are to be carried out in the project and prepared the practical work. Furthermore, as part of the project, feasibility studies must be carried out with the question of whether the resettlement a) of the angelhais and b) of the mayor can be ecologically sensible and practical.
