- The Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, is responsible for carrying out the federal tasks in accordance with Section 9a Paragraph 3 Sentence 1 of the AtG for the construction, operation and decommissioning of facilities Final storage of radioactive waste was transferred to the Federal Company for Final Storage mbH (BGE). In this function, the BGE is the client, hereinafter referred to as the AG, and awards the work for the construction of the Konrad final repository. The Konrad mine in Salzgitter is being converted into a facility for the final storage of solid and solidified radioactive waste with negligible heat generation. BGE carries out the construction and operation of the Konrad mine. The Konrad 2 shaft is used to transport containers to be stored as well as materials and people. The construction of the reloading facility on Konrad 2 as a central element for the transshipment and storage process of waste containers consists of two construction phases. The first construction phase, the construction the ZEA reloading hall and the ZEB buffer hall, including the higher-level TGA, has already been awarded and is currently being implemented. The construction project described here is the second construction phase of the construction of the reloading facility.
